Welcome! My name is Jason Kerchner, and thanks for visiting! If you're new here, you may want learn a little more about my story.
You can choose to believe whatever you want.
That’s a powerful statement, because it’s true. You can believe that there are no weeds in your garden, but that won’t keep your garden free of weeds. You can believe you can afford that new house, but that doesn’t mean you have enough money to buy it. You can believe you will get unexpected checks in the mail, but that doesn’t mean people will be sending you money.
What’s missing from this powerful statement, is the fact that your beliefs might not be synchronized with reality. And that will create pain, because reality can stop you, at least temporarily, from manifesting what you want.
Let’s look at an example scenario. You need to buy a car. First, you decide how much you are willing to spend. You research cars online and find a car you really like, which just happens to be at the top of your price range. You want to get the most for your money, after all. Excited about your impending purchase, you visit the dealership. You find the vehicle you want, then, with a little nudging from the salesman, decide there are a few other features you want, and you want the car with lower mileage. The price goes up. You are so close to getting that car! You negotiate the price down a bit, but its still outside your original price range.
Now its decision time.
A) Don’t buy the car. You know what you can afford. You decided that before you went to the dealership. That’s reality. But if you give in to reality, you won’t be able to buy that new car with all those cool features. That causes pain. And we all want to avoid pain.
B) Buy the car, with the understanding and total acceptance that you will have to lower spending in other areas that you hadn’t originally planned on so that you can afford the higher monthly payments. Oh, what to cut, what to cut?
C) Ignore reality and believe that you can afford the car without any concern for the consequences. Make the purchase. Joy!
Now we are stuck between desire and reality.
And this is where many people choose C. Why? Because it avoids all immediate pain and increases immediate pleasure. They get the car they wanted. In fact, they get a car that’s better than what they originally expected. What an extraordinary feeling! At the same time, they avoid the pain of having to fret over their finances and what they will have to give up in order to afford the car.
There is, of course, and fourth option. But most people don’t want to know about that. Maybe you already know what the fourth option is?
D) Don’t buy the higher priced car. Give up the cool features. Stick with your original plan, and purchase the car you can afford.
So many people stop at options A, B or C. So often are they focused on getting what they want, that they forget the true nature of reality: that there are ENDLESS OPTIONS.
Yes, there are even more options to this scenario…
E) Determine that you want the extra features, but leave the dealership to research other comparable cars that will get you the features you’ve decided you now want, and do it within your budget.
F) Wait another few months and save up some money for a larger down payment so that you can afford the car within your budget.
The problem with these other options for most people is twofold. First, they take effort. And second, you must delay getting what you want.
G) Try to find the vehicle from a private seller where the prices are usually lower, rather than a dealership with its higher prices.
H) Shop around for a loan with better terms that might get you payments within your acceptable range.
One of the biggest flaws with the Law of Attraction, at least the way its presented in the movie “The Secret”, is that all you need to do is wish for something and it will come to you. You can absolutely manifest what you want in life. But CREATION TAKES EFFORT, and it takes synchronizing your efforts with the CURRENT STATE OF REALITY.
Oh yes, before I forget, there is yet another option…
I) Wait for those unexpected checks to come in the mail so you can buy whatever car you want. And in the meantime, go back to staring at your overgrown garden and believe that there are no weeds in it.

Jason:
I totally agree with you on this post. You can spend your life dreaming about success and if you don’t actively take action towards that dream it will never come to fruition.
Jason – I confess that when I hear or see the word “manifest” (or manifestation) and link it to the movie/book, The Secret, I cringe. I found the movie, while making some fundamental points in an entertaining way, was SO very misleading and frankly… shallow.
Thank you for speaking to the deeper reality of the way things ARE: “CREATION TAKES EFFORT, and it takes synchronizing your efforts with the CURRENT STATE OF REALITY.”
One other comment, not quite on your topic: Too often, the Law of Attraction crowd play on our desires (that we all naturally have) in a way that focuses the attention primarily on OURSELVES in an incredibly self-centered and narcissistic way. I prefer that we all move “Beyond The Secret” and start focusing on “manifesting” a reality that serves the highest good of all!
Thanks for a thoughtful post.

Hey Jason, I completely subscribe to this mental set. You’ve got a lot of great content here, buddy! Well done! Looking forward to more…
Hey Jason,
Great points, the Secret definitely is flawed in that “wish for it” slant, and I agree that manifesting your reality takes persistent focused action. As you say, your options truly are endless!
